We Were Juniors

A look back at the glory days of "The Juniors"

CAN WEST PREVAIL OVER EAST IN THE SOUTH?

WILL IT BE A HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY FOR MAXI?

A glass half full demeanor whereas it was half-empty a week ago is sure to be exuding from those Pollok fans heading to Newlandsfield tomorrow afternoon  for a Southern Challenge Cup 4th Round contest against once renowned East Region opponents Linlithgow Rose.

And why shouldn’t this be the case heading into the same week which marks the first anniversary of Stewart Maxwell‘s appointment to the Southside hotseat ?

If you cast your mind back to exactly a year ago,  a  Scottish Cup 3rd round tie away to Ayr United (which they eventually lost 1-0) was by far and away the only beacon of light on the horizon  able to keep the success craving(or is it starved?) Lok supporters coming out in their numbers following an otherwise disheartening campaign which to all intents and purposes was the root cause of Murdie McKinnon’s removal from the manager’s chair.

You could say there were little more than dregs in the glass back then seeing as the  Glasgow big guns  were already looking Premier Division title also-rans in the wake of a considerably less than inspiring start to their league campaign through  picking up only 10 points from a possible 24 (they eventually finished 5th ).
